Entering Text 63Entering Text Using SwypeSwype™ is the default text input method that allows you toenter a word by sliding your finger or stylus from letter toletter, lifting your finger between words. Swype uses errorcorrecting algorithms and a language model to predict thenext word. Swype also includes a touch predictive textsystem.The on-screen keyboard options are different between theAndroid keyboard and Swype on-screen input methods.Note: During its initial use, you may be prompted by a series ofSwype Connect set up screens. Follow the initialon-screen set up instructions.Enabling and Configuring SwypeIf you configure another text input method (Samsungkeyboard) you must re-enable Swype before using theSwype keyboard.For more detailed information on configuring Swype settings,see “Swype Settings” on page 260.When Swype is enabled there can also be normal keyboardfunctionality.1. You can also use the followingSwype text entry tips.• Create a squiggle (like an S shape) to create a double letter (suchas pp in apple).• Touch and hold a key to view the punctuation menu then make aselection.• Move your finger or stylus over the apostrophe to entercontractions.• Double-touch on the word you want to change to correct amisspelled word, then touch the delete key to erase onecharacter. Touch and hold the delete key to erase an entire word.
