Messages 135Emergency Alert ConfigurationThis device is designed to receive wireless emergency alertsfrom the Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS); whichmay also be known as the Personal Localized AlertingNetwork (PLAN). If your wireless provider has chosen toparticipate in CMAS/PLAN, alerts are available while in theprovider's coverage area. If you travel outside your provider'scoverage area, wireless emergency alerts may not beavailable. For more information, please contact your wirelessprovider.Emergency Alerts allows customers to receivegeographically-targeted messages. Alert messages areprovided by the US Department of Homeland Security andwill alert customers of imminent threats to their safety withintheir area. There is no charge for receiving an EmergencyAlert message.There are three types of Emergency Alerts:• Alerts issued by the President• Alerts involving imminent threats to safety of life• AMBER Alerts (missing child alert)Customers may choose not to receive Extreme Alerts, SevereAlerts, and AMBER Alerts.Important! Alerts issued by the President can not be disabled.To disable Extreme, Severe, and AMBER Alerts:1. From the Home screen, tap .2. Press and then tap Settings.3. Scroll to the bottom and select Emergency alerts. Allalerts are enabled by default (checkmark showing).4. Tap on an alert option to disable the alert and removethe checkmark.Text TemplatesThis screen displays your available text message replytemplates. This is a readily accessible list of both default anduser-defined text snippets that can be used to quickly replyto incoming messages.1. From the Home screen, tap .2. From the Messaging list, press and then tap Texttemplates.3. Tap a message to immediately insert it into yourcurrent message conversation.
