Setting Up Service1A. Setting Up Service 3Activating Your Phone If you purchased your phone at a store, it should be activatedand ready to use. If you received your phone in the mail, your phone must firstbe activated via the Tools menu prior to its initial use. Once theprocess has been completed, confirm your activation bymaking a phone call.Activation via the Tools MenuOnce you have installed the battery (page 13), press to turnon your phone and begin the self-activation process.This procedure will take you through the necessary steps beforeinitiating your first phone call or using any of the phone’s datafeatures.1. Press > Tools > Activate > Yes (left softkey).2. Follow the onscreen prompts and enter the requiredinformation into their respective fields.Note Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for yourphone to turn on and find a signal, set up your voicemail,and make a call. You should fully charge your battery assoon as possible. See “Charging the Battery” on page 14for details.WARNING If your handset has a touchscreen display, pleasenote that a touchscreen responds best to a lighttouch from the pad of your finger or a non-metallicstylus. Using excessive force or a metallic objectwhen pressing on the touchscreen may damage thetempered glass surface and void the warranty.
