Web and Data Services 129 Web and DataData Connection Status and IndicatorsYour phone displays the current status of your dataconnection through indicators at the top of the screen.The following symbols are used:Your data connection is active (data is beingtransferred). When the triangles are animated,your phone is transferring data (for example,when you are opening a Web page); when thetriangles are gray, your phone is connected tothe network but is not currently transferringdata (for example, when you are viewing aWeb page that is completely open). In eitherstate, you can receive incoming calls.Your data connection is dormant (no data is beingsent or received. When the arrows are gray, yourphone is connected to the network but is notcurrently transferring data. Though not currentlyactive, when dormant the phone can restart anactive connection quickly; voice calls can bemade and received.If you do not see an indicator, your phone does nothave a current data connection. To launch aconnection, see “Launching a Web Connection” onpage 128.Data RestrictionsParental Controls determine what features you haveaccess to on your phone. (See “Using ParentalControls” on page 60.)When you first connect to the Web, access isconfirmed against the current Parental Restrictions. Ifdata access has been restricted, you will be notifiedwith an onscreen warning. This feature helps preventany accidental data connections.
