Scan features1854. Special Features13Scanning using the WIA driverYour machine supports the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) driver forscanning images. WIA is one of the standard components provided by MicrosoftWindows 7 and works with digital cameras and scanners. Unlike the TWAINdriver, the WIA driver allows you to scan and easily adjust images without usingadditional software:The WIA driver works only on Windows OS (not supported Windows 2000)with a USB port.1 Make sure that the machine is connected to your computer andpowered on.2 Place a single document face down on the document glass, or load thedocuments face up into the document feeder (see "Loading originals" onpage 48).3 Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices andPrinters.4 Right-click on device driver icon in Printers and Faxes > Start Scan.5 New Scan application appears.6 Choose your scanning preferences and click Preview to see yourpreferences affect the picture.7 Scan and save your scanned image.14Scanning with Samsung Scan AssistantYou need to download Samsung Scan Assistant software from the Samsungwebsite to install the printer software (http://www.samsung.com > find yourproduct > Support or Downloads).• This feature may not be available depending on model or optional goods(see "Features by models" on page 7).• You can use the OCR (Optical Character Reader) feature from SamsungScan Assistant program.1 Make sure that the machine is connected to your computer andpowered on.2 Place a single document face down on the document glass, or load thedocuments face up into the document feeder (see "Loading originals" onpage 48).3 Click Start > All programs > Samsung Printers, and start SamsungScan Assistant.
