6.8 TroubleshootingSymptomYou cannot poll anothermachine.Cause and Solution• The fax machine you are polling may be using a pollcode.The incoming fax has blankspaces or you received apoor-quality copy.• The machine sending you the fax may be faulty.• The fax machine sending you a fax may have a dirty scanglass.• A noisy phone line can cause line errors.• Check your machine by making a copy.• The cartridge toner may be empty.Are some of the words on theincoming fax stretched?• The machine sending you the fax had a temporarydocument jam.There are lines on the copiesor documents you send.• Check your scan glass for marks, and clean it.See page 6.11.The machine dials a number,but fails to make a connec-tion with another faxmachine.• The other fax machine may be turned off, out of paper, orcannot answer incoming calls. Speak with the othermachine operator and ask them to sort out the problem.You cannot store a documentin the memory.• There may not be enough memory to store the document.If the display shows a ‘MEMORY FULL’ message, deleteany documents you no longer need from the memory,then restore the document.Blank areas appear at the bot-tom of each page or on otherpages, with only a small stripof text printed at the top.• You may have chosen the wrong paper settings in the useroptions set up. See page 5.3 to choose a proper paper size.
