Menu functions Messages (Menu 5)55Settings (Menu 5.5)Use this menu to set up various options for using themessaging service.Text message (Menu 5.5.1)You can configure default SMS settings for sending orreceiving messages.• Send settings: set up the following options forsending a text message:Reply path: allow the recipient to reply to youthrough your message centre.Delivery report: set the network to inform youwhen your message has been delivered.Character support: select a character encodingtype. If you select Automatic, the phone switchesthe encoding type from GSM-alphabet to Uni-code if you enter an Uni-code character. Use ofUni-code encoding will reduce the maximumnumber of characters in a message to about half.If this menu is not shown, your phone provides theAutomatic character encoding by default.Bearer selection: select either GSM or GPRSpreferred, depending on your network.• Current profile: select a profile.• Profile settings: set the following properties in aprofile:Service centre: store or change the number ofyour message centre.Default destination: enter the defaultdestination. It will be displayed in the first field onthe Recipients field.Default type: set the default message type. Thenetwork can convert the messages into theselected format.Default validity: set the length of time yourmessages are stored in the SMS centre whileattempts are made to deliver them.Setting name: enter a profile name.
