Entering Text 43Changing the Text Input Mode - KeypadThere are two main keypad layout keys that will change theon-screen keys within the QWERTY keypad.The available Text Input modes are: Sym and Abc.Note: When in Abc mode, the Sym button will appear. When in Sym mode, theAbc/ABC/abc button will appear.Using Abc Mode1. If desired, rotate your phone counterclockwise to landscapeorientation.2. When you tap a text entry field, the following screendisplays:3. Tap the desired alphabetic characters.The screen initially opens in Abc mode. After typing the firstletter, the shift key ( ) changes to and the followingletters will be lowercase. When you type a period and aspace, the first letter of the next sentence is automaticallycapitalized.4. Tap to input an upper-case letter or tap twice toswitch to ABC mode. The shift key will change to inABC mode. All following letters will be uppercase until youtap the shift key again.Symbol/Numeric Mode: activates the number, symbol,and emoticon keys.Abc Mode: activates the default alphabet keys. Canalso be set to ABC or abc by using the shift ( ) key.
