Entering Text30Entering TextWhen using your phone, you will often need to enter text, such aswhen storing a name in Address Book, creating your personalgreeting or scheduling events on your calendar. You can enteralphanumeric characters by using your phone’s keypad.Your phone has the following text input modes:♦VoiceMode: this mode allows you to simply speak words into yourphone and have your phone convert them to text. Press the sidecamera/voice button on right side of the phone and speak into themicrophone.♦T9 mode: This mode allows you to enter words with only onekeystroke per letter. Each key on the keypad has more than oneletter; for example, when you press the 5 key once, J, K or Ldisplays. T9 mode automatically compares your keystrokes with aninternal linguistic dictionary to determine the correct word, thusrequiring far fewer keystrokes than the traditional Alphabet mode.♦Alphabet mode: this mode allows you to enter letters by pressingthe key labeled with the letter you want. Press the key once, twice,three or four times until the desired character displays.♦Number mode: this mode allows you to enter numbers.♦Symbol mode: this mode allows you to enter various symbols andspecial characters.Changing the Text Input ModeWhen you are in a field that allows characters to be entered, you willnotice the text input mode indicator on the display.
