Call functions26Three-way callingThis feature enables you to conduct conferencecalls with 2 separate people at the same time. Thephone records both of them into the Outgoingcalls log and you are billed air time for each ofoutgoing calls separately. Contact your serviceprovider to activate Three-way calling.To place a Three-way call:1. During a conversation, press the SEND key.The phone places the other person on hold.2. Enter the phone number for the third person,and then press the SEND key. The phone dialsthe third person.3. When you are connected to the person, pressthe SEND key again to begin your three-waycall.If one of the callers (not you) hangs up, you andremaining caller stay connected. If you initiatedthe call and you hang up first, all 3 participantsare disconnected.27Entering textAt many times when using your phone, you willneed to enter text, such as when storing a namein Contacts, creating your personal greeting, orscheduling events on your calendar. You can enteralphanumeric characters into your phone usingyour phone’s keypad.Your phone has the following text input modes:• T9 English mode: This mode allows you toenter words with only one keystroke per letter.Each key on the keypad has more than oneletter; for example, pressing can enter J, K,or L. However, T9 English mode automaticallycompares the series of keystrokes you makewith an internal linguistic dictionary todetermine the most likely word, thus requiringfar fewer keystrokes than the traditionalAlphabet mode.• Alpha mode: This mode allows you to enterletters by pressing the key labeled with theletter you want. Press the key once, twice, threeor four times until it displays.• 123 mode: This mode allows you to enternumbers.• Symbol mode: This mode allows you to entervarious symbols and special characters.
