71RoamingRoaming on other digital networksWhen you’re roaming on other digital networks, call qualityand security are similar to the quality you receive while onyour home network. However, you may be unable to accesscertain features, such as Wireless Web.Roaming on analog networksWhile roaming on analog networks, some calling features, such as Wireless Web, may be unavailable, you can stillmake and receive calls. With analog service, you mayexperience a few differences including:• You’re more likely to experience static, cross-talk, fade-out and dropped calls.• Some calling features which are standard on your homeNetwork, such as Call Waiting, Wireless Web and directinternational dialing, are unavailable.• There are security and privacy risks, such aseavesdropping and cloning, that exist with conventionalanalog services today.• Analog mode consumes more power than digital, therefore your battery drains faster (and needsrecharging sooner) when used in analog networks.Note: If you’re on a call when you leave your home networkand enter an area where roaming is available(whether digital or analog), your call is dropped. Ifyour call is dropped in an area where you think theservice is available, turn your phone off and on againto reconnect to your home network.n400bmc version 2.book Page 71 Wednesday, May 14, 2003 3:30 PM
