Extended functions 46Aperture valueThe aperture is a hole that lets light into the camera. The aperture housing containsthin, metal plates that open and close, widening or narrowing the aperture, andcontrolling the amount of light that enters the camera. The size of the aperture isclosely related to the brightness of a photo: the larger the aperture, the brighterthe photo; the smaller the aperture, the darker the photo. Note that the larger theaperture value, the smaller the aperture size. For example, an aperture set to 5.6 islarger than an aperture set to 11. Small aperture value (The size of theaperture is large.) Large aperture value (The size of theaperture is small.)Shutter speedShutter speed, which is an important factor in the brightness of a photo, refers tothe amount of time it takes to open and close the shutter. A slow shutter speedallows more time to let light in. All things being equal, photos are brighter, but fastmoving objects tend to blur. On the other hand, a fast shutter speed allows less timeto let light in. Photos are darker, but objects in motion are captured more clearly. Slow shutter speed Fast shutter speedUsing the Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, or Manual modeAdjust the aperture value or shutter speed to control the exposure of your photos. You can use these options in the Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual modes.
