65Maintenance and CleaningFilter prevents dust from accumulating on the optical elements inside the projector. Should the filters becomeclogged with dust particles, it will reduce cooling fans’ effectiveness and may result in internal heat buildupand adversely affect the life of the projector. If a Filter warning icon appears on the screen, clean the filtersimmediately. Clean the filters by following the steps below.CAUTIONDo not operate the projector with the filtersremoved. Dust may accumulate on the opticalelements degrading picture quality.Do not put anything into the air vents. When the symptoms above are noticed,contact your authorized dealer or service station for propercleaning.Be sure to reset the Filter counter after cleaning or replacingthe filters.Press the MENU button to display the On-ScreenMenu. Use the Point ▲▼ buttons to select Setting andthen press the Point ► or the SELECT button.Use the Point ▲▼ buttons to select Filter counterand then press the SELECT button. Use the Point ▲▼buttons to select Filter counter reset and then pressthe SELECT button. Filter counter Reset? appears.Select yes to continue.1Resetting the Filter CounterFilter counterFilter counter Reset?appears.Select yes, then anotherconfirmation box appears.Select yes again to resetthe Filter counter.Another confirmation dialog box appears, select yes toreset the Filter counter.3Cleaning the FiltersHTurn off the projector, and unplug the AC power cordfrom the AC outlet.Turn the projector over and remove the filters by pullingthe latches upward.1Gently clean the filters by using a brush or rinse itsoftly.3When rinsing the filters, dry they well. Replace thefilters properly. Make sure that the filters are fullyinserted to the projector.4FiltersPull up and remove.
