4Basic OperationWhat is PIN code?PIN (Personal Identification Number) code is a security code thatallows the person who knows it to operate the projector. Setting aPIN code prevents unauthorized use of the projector.A PIN code consists of a four-digit number. Refer to the PIN codelock function in the Setting Menu on page 59-60 for locking operationof the projector with your PIN code.CAUTION ON HANDLING PIN CODEIf you forget your PIN code, the projector can no longerbe started. Take a special care in setting a new PINcode; write down the number in a column on page 84 ofthis manual and keep it on hand. Should the PIN codebe missing or forgotten, consult your dealer or servicecenter.Press the ON/STAND-BY button on the side control or theSTAND-BY button on the remote control, and Power off?appears on the screen.Press the ON/STAND-BY button on the side control or theSTAND-BY button on the remote control again to turn off theprojector. The LAMP indicator lights bright and the POWERindicator turns off. After the projector is turned off, the coolingfans operate for 90 seconds. You cannot turn on the projectorduring this cooling down period.1TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF THE LAMP, ONCE YOUTURN THE PROJECTOR ON, WAIT AT LEAST FIVEMINUTES BEFORE TURNING IT OFF.DO NOT UNPLUG THE AC POWER CORD WHILECOOLING FANS ARE RUNNING OR BEFORE THEPOWER INDICATOR LIGHTS GREEN AGAIN.OTHERWISE IT WILL RESULT IN SHORTENING OFTHE LAMP LIFE. When the projector has cooled down enough, the POWERindicator lights green and then you can turn on the projector.To unplug the AC power cord, wait until the projector iscompletely cooled down.Power off? disappears after 4 seconds.PNote:• When the On start function is set to On, the projectorwill be turned on automatically by connecting the ACpower cord to an AC outlet (p.58).• The running speed of cooling fans is changedaccording to the temperature inside the projector.• Do not put the projector in a case before the projectoris cooled enough.• If the WARNING TEMP. indicator blinks red, see“Warning Indicators” on page 69.• The projector cannot be turned on during the coolingperiod with the POWER indicator turned off. You canturn it on again after the POWER indicator becomesgreen again.DO NOT OPERATE THE PROJECTOR CONTINUOUSLYWITHOUT REST. CONTINUOUS USE MAY RESULTIN SHORTENING THE LAMP LIFE.
