22Setup MenuThe Setup menu allows you to configure the TV withyour preferences.Display the main menu by pressing Menu and selectSetup, then press OK to display its options:OSD Language: press ◄/► to select the preferredlanguage (English or Espanol) for all menus.Screen ModeScreen format refers to the way the picture is displayedon your TV.Analog video is sent in a 4/3 format, which your TVdisplays in a 16/9 format. Most digital video is sent in a16/9 format which fills your screen, but it sometimes issent in 4/3, which does not fill your screen. It dependson how the station or component connected to your TVis formatting the video. If there are bars on the screen,press the ZOOM -/+ button to try a different format thatmay eliminate the bars. Some bars can’t be removedbecause of the way the format is sent by the broadcaster.Press ZOOM -/+ repeatedly to cycle through the availabledisplay formats.Press the ZOOM -/+ button on your remote to see ifa different format is available for the video you areviewing. The format changes as you press the ZOOM-/+ button, and the format type is displayed at the bottomleft of the screen.DPMS(Display Power Management Signaling) autooff featuresetting this option to On mode allows the TV to act like aPC Monitor and go into sleep mode and turn back on bythe movement of the mouse or keyboardWhen using anormal monitor on a computer and you set the computerto set the monitor to standby after a certain amount oftime - the monitor is switched off (standby) when thetime comes ..This TV does the same thing if it connected via its VGAport but when connected via HDMI it does not - it willstay on forever (even if the computer is switched off) ..all it’ll say is “no signal” but will not go off.When using a normal monitor on a computer and youset the computer to set the monitor to standby aftera certain amount of time - the monitor is switched off(standby) when the time comes .This TV does the same thing if it connected via its VGAport but when connected via HDMI it does not - it willstay on forever (even if the computer is switched off) ..all it’ll say is “no signal” but will not go off.Closed CaptionMany programs are encoded with closed captioninginformation, which allows you to display the audioportion of a program as text on the TV screenNote: Closed caption settings are not available forHDMI, CMPT or PC INPUTS. These settings mustbe set in the connected component’s menu. Closedcaptioning is not available on all channels at all times.Only specific programs are encoded with closedcaptioning information.The Closed Caption options are:CC Setting – This option allows you to choose the wayclosed captioning information appears on the screen.Off - No captioning information displayed.On Always – Choose this option if you wantcaptioning information to be shown wheneveravailable.On When Muted – This option allows the closedcaptioning to display (when available) whenever theTV’s sound is muted. The captioning information isnot displayed when the sound is not muted.Analog CC Type – This option lets you select thecaptioning mode used for displaying caption information,when available. If you are unsure of the differencesamong the modes, you may prefer to leave the closedcaptioned mode set to CC1, which displays completetext of the program in the primary language in your area.Digital CC Type If available, this allows you to select aclosed caption service mode (1-6) for digital channels.Digital CC Preset If available, this allows you to selectbetween Off and On options. On mode allows you to setthe options below.Digital CC Style – This option lets you customize thefollowing display options, if available:Caption Style – Select either As Broadcaster orCustom options. If you choose Custom options,the setting changes according to the options youchoose.Font Size – Set the size of the digital closed captiontext: Default, Small, Standard or Large.Font Style - Select a character design for the digitalclosed caption text.
