36 Connecting to the Base Station TB7300 Installation and Operation Manual© Tait Limited November 2017Transmitters in a simulcast channel must all begin transmitting in unison atthe same instant. Accordingly, the channel group master designates thetime of transmission for all content, allowing sufficient time for the IPpackets to travel through the channel group to reach the transmitters. Thistiming allowance is called the marshaling duration, configured at themaster. The configured value of the marshaling duration must allow for theworst case network delay, including delay variation (jitter). The table provides a summary of where to configure transmit or marshalingdelay:4.4.7 Setting Up Custom AlarmsEach of the base station’s 12 digital inputs can be used to raise a customalarm when the input goes high or low. The Custom Alarms form(Configure > Alarms > Custom Alarms) allows you to assign a name toeach custom alarm, and to configure whether the alarm is triggered whenthe digital input goes high or low. Custom alarms are reported via the webinterface and SNMP traps.Custom alarms are used to provide an alarm when an external eventactivates a digital input. You can rename any of the available alarms toprovide a more meaningful name, such as “Door open”.Take care when setting the severity of alarms, including custom alarms(Configure > Alarms > Severity). Setting an alarm’s severity to Majorwill cause the node to take the base station out of service when the alarmis raised.
