28 Operation T801-4 Installation and Operation Manual© Tait Electronics Limited September 20072.1 System Start-up and ShutdownThe T801-4 will start up as soon as DC power is applied. The associatedGPS receiver(s) should be powered from the same supply so that they startup and shut down at the same time.Note Because of the time it takes the GPS receivers to acquire a fix, especially the Dalman external GPS receiver (refer to “GPS FixAcquisition Times” on page 31), it is very probable that an alarmcondition will occur after power-up, but before a fix is acquired. This is quite normal. However, you can delay the response timeof the alarms by a variable time period so that the system does notraise alarms during power-up (refer to “Fault Output Delay” onpage 33).The T801-4 has two modes of operation, run mode and programmingmode. The unit defaults to run mode whenever power is applied, and isonly ever in programming mode (briefly) when you apply configurationsettings using the ET software.2.2 Loss of PowerIf power is lost to the T801-4, the Satsync 7 module saves its configurationinformation and the oscillator control voltage value in non-volatile memory. These are re-applied when power is restored. However, the frequency updating process does not start until a few minutesafter power is restored. This is to allow the oven to reach its operatingtemperature and ensure that the oscillator is close to the correct runningtemperature/frequency relationship. The length of time before the updatingprocess re-starts is related to the frequency error when power was lost.If required, you can save the Satsync 7 configuration settings to a file usingthe ET software (refer to “Settings Menu” on page 41).
