TM8260 Installation and Programming Guide Installing a Dual-Radio System 21© Tait Limited October 20143.4 Installing the Radio BodiesTo prepare and install the radio bodies, you must:■ remove link J4 from the radio body interface that will be connected tothe control head,■ assemble the body interfaces,■ mount the radio bodies, then■ install the radio connecting cable.Removing Link J4Every body remote interface (TMAC31-0T) is manufactured, by default, with a 120Ω termination resistor across the RS485 signal lines. The controlhead remote (TMAA03-03) also has this termination. This termination is required at the ends of an RS485 network. In the caseof a TM8260 dual-radio system, the radio body with the two connections(to the control head and to the other radio body) is a node on the networkand must not have this termination. To remove this termination, use your fingernail (or similar) to remove thejumper (shorting link) J4. Link J4 is located between the two RJ45connectors (see Figure 3.5), and can be removed without removing thePCB.This must only be removed on the body remote interface connected to thecontrol head (item 1) in Figure 2.1 on page 14), and can only be removedwhen the interface is separate from the radio body. If the interface hasalready been installed, see “Removing the Body Interface” on page 22.Figure 3.5 Location of link J4link J4RJ45 connectors
