TM9300/TM9400 Installation Guide Power Sense and Connector Power Supply Options 19© Tait Limited December 20153 Power Sense and Connector PowerSupply OptionsThe mobile radio allows the configuration of different power-sense optionsto control how the radio is powered up and down, and connector powersupply options to control how power is switched to the connectors of themobile radio.Before starting the installation it is important to understand these optionsin order to make the right decision on how to best connect your mobileradio.3.1 Power Sense OptionsThe radio allows the configuration of different power-sense options tocontrol how the mobile radio is powered up and down:■ battery power sense■ auxiliary power sense (ignition sense)■ internal-options power sense■ no power sense■ emergency power sense.The emergency power-sense option can be used in conjunction with any ofthe other four options.The different power-sense options have to be facilitated by hardwaremeans, as the software cannot act before it is powered up. The radioprovides four hardware links (marked LK1M to LK4M) on the top-side ofthe main board which can be configured to attain the power-sense optiondesired.Notice The hardware links are SMT components. Do not replaceSMT components unless you are trained and equipped to do so.Attempting to replace SMT components without the necessary training,tools, and equipment can cause permanent damage to the radio.Figure 3.1 shows a block diagram of the hardware links LK1M to LK4M.
