30 Installing the Radio TM9300/TM9400 Installation Guide© Tait Limited December 2015Install the external antenna according to the antenna manufacturer’sinstructions. Good quality 50 Ω coaxial cable must be used, such as RG58or UR76.Notice Route the antenna cable in a manner that minimizes:■ coupling into the electronic control systems of the vehicle■ coupling of electric vehicle systems, such as alternators, into theradio■ coupling into the radio’s DC power cable, the cable to a remotecontrol head, or an external speaker cableAvoid sharp bends in the cable. These distort the cable and alter itselectrical characteristics.Terminating theAntenna Cable 1. Run the free end of the coaxial cable to the radio’s mounting positionand cut it to length, allowing approximately 8 inches (200mm)excess at the radio end.2. Terminate the free end of the antenna cable with the mini-UHF plugor BNC plug (supplied) as shown in Figure 4.4.4.7 Connecting the Power Cable to the Power SourceThis section provides information on connecting the power cable to thepower source. The radio allows the configuration of different power-sense and powersupply options to control how the radio is powered up and down. For moreinformation, refer to “Power Sense and Connector Power Supply Options”on page 19.The installation configurations described below are based on the followinghardware link configuration (factory default):■ hardware link LK1M (+13.8V battery power sense): fitted■ hardware link LK2M (ignition sense): fittedFigure 4.4 Terminating the antenna cable
