Operator Manual3–40Test Menu In TEST Menu you will find diagnostic test print patterns used to check printerfunctions and a parameter that allows you to control paper motion sensing.Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to scroll to the desired selection. To movedown in the menu use the Up Arrow key.Pattern CategoryThe Pattern Category has a series of printer self-tests which have predefinedpatterns used to test the basic printer functionality. Selection of the patterns isdone by scrolling with the Up or Down Arrow keys to the requested option, andpressing the Enter key. The test begins based on the current margins and fontinformation selected. All of the panel keys are disabled while the test isrunning except for the View key and the Enter and Clear keys, which terminatethe test. Once the test is terminated, all of the keys are activated.PrintOption PrintsUpper Rolling ASCII characters between 0x20 and 0x5EAll Characters All characters from the available character sets63/69 63 uppercase characters followed by 69 spaces.ECMA A pattern specified by the European Computer Manufac-turers Association. Used for acoustic testing.Columns Number of columns on the line, based on margin dis-tancesFault Override CategoryThis category deals with the configuration of fault information from the EngineManager and the Control Processor. If the option is set to On, then the fault isoverridden and won't be reported on the panel. If the option is set to Off, thenthe override is disabled and the fault is reported if it occurs.Paper MotionControls paper motion fault reporting status. This setting is saved in NVRAM sothat it does not need to be set up on powerup each time.Automatic Paper Motion Fault Retry is a feature that has been imple-mented to eliminate intermittent false paper motion faults. When a papermotion fault is detected while printing is in progress, the paper is re-versed approximately 3 inches, then moved forward again. If the papermotion fault persists, the printer is placed offline and the fault is re-ported. This feature can eliminate false paper motion faults caused byrandom electrical noise or paper chads/dust that can be removed by thepaper reversal.
