Check to see that the source is connected to theDECK 1 INPUT connectors if you intend to recordon deck 1 only or on deck 1 and deck 2 simul-taneously. Use the DECK 2 INPUT connectors ifyou intend to record on deck 2 only.2. Press POWER to turn on the unit.3. Press either or both EJECT buttons to open thecassette compartments, insert cassettes, and closethe compartments.4. Press either or both RESET buttons so you can usethe RTZ (return-to-zero) function to locate therecord start point.5. Make the following switch settings :REV MODE switch to Ä if you intend to recordon one side of the tape(s) only or ä to record onboth sides continuously ;INPUT/OUTPUT switch to SEPARATE ;DOLBY NR switch to the desired position.6. If you intend to record on both deck 1 and deck 2simultaneously, press the DUAL REC button. ItsLED will turn on and both decks will go intoRecord Ready mode.If you are using only one of the two decks, put itinto Record Ready mode by holding downRECORD and pressing PAUSE.7. Start the external source and adjust the INPUTcontrol(s) so that the meter reading is around 0 dB.Use the REC BAL control(s) to balance the left andright input levels.8. To start recording, press PLAY on the deck in use. IfDUAL REC is activated, you can press PLAY oneither deck to start recording on both decks.“ To stop recording, press STOP. If DUAL REC isactivated, you can press STOP on either deck tostop both tapes. The DUAL REC LED will thenturn off.“ To audition the recording just completed, pressRTZ, then press PLAY for the deck whose LED isblinking.Suggestion : You can record a 4-second silence byholding down RECORD and pressing STOP (or bypressing the optional remote REC MUTE button) afterprogram material as been recorded.
