DBX NR ON/OFF switch: When this switch isset to its ON position, the built-in dbx noisereduction system for all 8 tracks is turned on.Track 8 is disconnected from the dbx systemif the SYNC switch is at the ON position, sothe system does not affect the sync signalsgoing to and from track 8.The dbx NR system provides a net noisereduction (broadband, not just hiss) of about30 dB, and also permits a net again in tapeheadroom of about 10 dB, a l l o w i n grecordings over a 90 dB dynamic range.Transport Controls25. REW key: Winds tape at high speed inreverse.26. F.FWD key: Winds tape at high speed in theforward direction.27. STOP key: Stops any tape motion and disa-bles all transport modes.28. PLAY key:a) Pressing this key alone starts playback.b) If pressed together with RECORD, startsrecording ("punch in").c) Pressing the key during recording stopsthe recording ("punch out") without stoppingthe tape motion.29. PAUSE key: Temporarily stops play or recor-ding. To resume the function interrupted,press PLAY.Pressing PAUSE alone while in STOP putsthe recorder into a Play Standby mode. Ifpressed together with RECORD while inSTOP, the key puts the recorder into aRecord Standby mode.30. RECORD key: Pressing this key alone has noeffect.
