31. PITCH CONTROL dial: Provides a plus orminus 12% variation to the tape speed inboth record and play modes. Turn the dial tothe left to lower the speed, or to the right toincrease the speed. Set the dial to the center"0" position f or the tape to run at thestandard 9.5 cm/sec.This can sometimes be used to save partsthat are a little out-of-tune, or to createsound effects such as flanging. Note that ifyou record with the dial at its maximum orminimum settings, you will NOT have theability to make further adjustment in thatdirection upon playback.CAUTION: The PITCH CONTROL dial affectsthe record speed also. Tape COUNTER: This 4-digit electroniccounter displays the distance the tape hasmoved from a zero reference point. Eachtime you press the COUNTER RESET switch(#39), a new zero reference point isestablished. The counter display is also resetto zero when the 488 is turned off or thecassette is removed.38. Other Indicators: They show whether or notthe following 5 functions are in use:a ) d b x - lights up when the DBX NRswitch (#24) is set to ON.b) RHSL- blinks when the RHSL switch(#45) is on and the function isactivated.
