29 / (tone controls)To compensate for adverse influences on reproductionquality caused by your listening room, or imperfectloudspeaker positioning, the amplifier is fitted with anactive, infinitely variable tone control system. Thesettings can be adjusted separately for each channel, toallow for asymmetric positioning of the left and rightspeakers. The aim should be to set the controls in sucha way that the two loudspeakers produce the closestapproximation to identical sound. The tone controls are deliberately designed to affect onlythe low frequencies below 300 Hz (BASS) and the highfrequencies above 4000 Hz (TREBLE); this avoidsunwanted coloration in the critical mid-range sound.• When the tone controls are at centre, the frequencyresponse is linear.• Rotating the controls clockwise increases the bass ortreble.• Rotating the controls anti-clockwise reduces the bassor treble.Volume and balance (balance setting)The control enables you to vary the levelbetween left and right channels, e.g. to cope with asym-metric speaker locations. To avoid any adverse effect on the sound, the balancerange is limited to +0,6 dB / -8,0 dB. It is never desirableto reduce the volume of one stereo channel to zero.• The level of amplification is the same on bothchannels when the control is at the centre position.• Rotating the control clockwise offsets the stereocentre to the right.• Rotating the control anti-clockwise offsets the stereocentre to the left.Infinitely variable adjustment of the playback level, employing a high-quality, ultra close-tolerance quadruplepotentiometer.Rotating the control clockwise increases the volume.Turning the control anti-clockwise decreases the volume.
