40UBI EasyCoder 91 – Installation & Operation Ed. 1Chapter 5 TroubleshootingChapter 5TroubleshootingProblemPower indicator does notlight green when power isswitched on.Power indicator lightsgreen but printer will notfeed.Printer seems to be work-ing but nothing is printed.Printing is faded.Prints only partial label.Printer keeps printing orfeeding when it shouldnot.Printing stops and indica-tor lamp lights orange.Memory lost.Label stuck on roller.Label taken sensor doesnot hold printing until la-bel/tag has been removed.Solution or Reason• Make sure connectors on power supply are securelyplugged into the socket on the printer's rear panel, andto an AC outlet.• Label taken sensor active, label not removed.• Make sure correct type of interface cable is securelyplugged into both printer and computer.• Direct Thermal Printing:Verify that the paper is intended for direct thermalprinting by testing if the paper is blackened by theheat from a hot object (+ 70° C/160° F or more).Check that the heat-sensitive side faces the printhead.• Thermal Transfer Printing:Verify that the printer is loaded with thermal transferribbon and that the ink-coated sided faces the paper.• Clean the printhead with the cleaning card.• If printing is still faded, increase the density setup.• Printhead mechanism not completely locked.• Label caught on printhead. Remove and clean.• Label caught on label gap sensor inside printmechanism. Remove and clean.• Possible software problem.• Possible problem with label gap sensor. Performautoadjust in the Test Mode.• Possible paper jam.• Possible software problem.• Replace batteries on CPU board and/or in memorycartridge (if any).• Grab the flat tab at the left side of the front hatch andpush it carefully to the right so as to disengage thesnap-lock. Then pull front hatch straight up. Removetear-off edge. Use fingers to peel off stuck label. Donot use any sharp tools! Clean using a cleaning cardor a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol.• Label/tag bent down due to excessive length and/ortoo thin or soft paper.• Label/tag too short (less than 16 mm/.63").• Label taken sensor or cable defective.
