Install the flue systemas detailed in the separate flue installationinstructions supplied with this boiler.Boiler locationThe location chosen for the boiler must permit the provi-sion of a satisfactory flue termination. The location mustalso provide adequate space for servicing and air circu-lation around the boiler. The boiler may be installed inany room, although particular attention is drawn to therequirements of BS7671 (IEE Regulations), the electricalprovisions of the Building Regulations (Scotland) and inIE the current edition of IS 813 and the current ETCIrules, in respect of the installation of a boiler ina room containing a bath or shower.Note!Where a room sealed boiler is installed in aroom containing a bath or shower, any electricalswitch or boiler control utilising mains elec-tricity should be so situated that it cannot betouched by a person using the bath or shower.Where the installation of the boiler will be in an unusuallocation, special procedures may be necessary andBS 5546 and BS 6798 give detailed guidance on thisaspect. The boiler must be mounted on a flat, verticalwall, which must be sufficiently robust to take theweight of the boiler. The boiler may be installed on acombustible wall, subject to the requirements of theLocal Authorities and Building Regulations. A compart-ment used to enclose the boiler must be designed andconstructed specifically for this purpose. (An existingcupboard or compartment may be used provided that itis modified for the purpose).Details of essential features of cupboard/compartmentdesign including airing cupboard installations are givenin BS 6891. In IE the current edition of IS 813. If the boil-er is to be fitted in a timber framed building, it should befitted in accordance with Institute of Gas EngineersPublication IGE/UP/7/1998 “Guide for Gas Installation inTimber Framed Housing”.Gas SupplyThe gas supplier should ensure the availability of anadequate supply of gas. A gas meter may only be con-nected to the service pipe by the supplier of gas or theircontractor. An existing meter should be checked toensure that it is capable of passing the rate of gas sup-ply required. Installation pipes should be fitted in accord-ance with BS 6891. Pipework from the meter to the boil-er must be of an adequate size. Do not use pipes of asmaller size than the boiler gas connection (15 mm,22 mm for 837/637).
