25Instructions for installation and servicing ecoTEC 839592_12Caution!To ensure fumes do not escape through the syphonof the boiler the trap must be filled with water be-fore the boiler is turned on. Therefore the dischargepipework should be installed so as not to interferewith the removal and refitting of the condensatetrap, we recommend the outlet pressure releasevalve pipe supplied is not shortened. You mustleave a bottom clearance of at least 180 mm belowthe condensate trap for removal and refitting.4.12.2 Pressure Relief Valvemin.180123Fig. 4.12 Installing the drain pipe on the pressure release valveof the heating system (picture shows ecoTEC pluscombination boiler)The pressure release valve for the heating system isintegrated in the appliance.• Position the seal (1) and screw the drain pipe (2) on tothe pressure release valve. The discharge pipework should be as short as possibleand installed with a continuous fall away from the boiler. The pipe should terminate in a position which ensuresthat any discharge of water or steam from the valvecannot create a hazard to persons in or around thepremises, or cause damage to any electrical compo-nents or external wiring, and the point of dischargeshould be clearly visible.4.13 Connecting the flue system to the boiler• Refer to separate air/flue duct installation instructionsincluded with the boiler.4.14 Electrical connection4.14.1 General requirementsDanger!Electrocution caused by touching live parts canbe fatal. Before working on the appliance, turn off thepower supply and secure against restart. All electrical work shall be carried out by a competentperson and shall comply with BS 7671 (IEE Regulations). Inthe Republic of Ireland, reference should be made to thecurrent edition of the ETCI (Electro-Technical Council forIreland) rules. The boiler is supplied for connection to230 V, ~ 50 Hz supply fused at 3 A rating. Connection tothe mains supply shall be made via a fused 3 pin plug toan unswitched shuttered socket, both complying with therequirements of BS 1363. (Alternatively, connection maybe made via a 3 A fused double pole isolator having acontact separation of at least 3 mm in all poles andsupplying the boiler and controls only). The point ofconnection to the mains supply must allow completeelectrical isolation of the boiler and its ancillary controls. It should be readily accessible and adjacent to the boiler.A 3 core flexible cord according to BS 6500 Tables 6, 8or 16 (3 x 0.75 to 3 x 1.5 mm2) should be used.Danger! This appliance must be earthed.Danger!Mains connection terminals L and N remain liveeven when the boiler on/off control is switchedoff.NoteDo not connect any power voltage to theconnections 7-8-9 or BUS (+,-).NoteEnsure that all cords pass through the cableclamps in the rear of the control box and aresecurely fixed. Ensure that the power supply isconnected such that the current carryingconductors become taut before the earthconductor should the supply cord slip from thecable clamp.Boiler installation sequence 4
