33Instructions for installation and servicing ecoTEC 839592_12The ecoTEC plus combination boiler will be deliveredwith a filling loop.• Insert the double check valve (1) of the filling pipe atthe cold water shutoff valve and secure the doublecheck valve with the spring clip (2).• To fill, first open the stop valve (3).• Open the stop valve (4), so that water flows into theheating system. Fill the heating system as described inSection 5.4.4.• Close both stop valves after filling and detach thefilling device by pulling the double check valve fromthe cold water stop valve.NoteBoth stop valves must be closed whileoperating the heating system and the fillingpipe must be again detached at the doublecheck valve.Fig. 5.3 Double check valve detached while heating5.4.3 Filling the heating system in ecoTEC pro com-bination boilers and ecoTEC plus system boilersThe ecoTEC pro combination boilers and theecoTEC plus system boilers do not come with a fillingdevice. In these appliances, water is filled in the heatingsystem through a filling pipe provided onsite.• Join a hose between a cold water dispensing valveand the filling pipe of the heating system.• To fill, first open the cold water dispensing valve.• Open the stop valve on the filling pipe, so that waterflows into the heating system. Fill the heating systemas described in Section 5.4.4.• After filling, close the stop valve on the filling pipe andthe cold water dispensing valve and remove the fillinghose.5.4.4 Filling the heating system for the first timeNoteAs long as there is insufficient water pressurein the heating system, the display indicatorchanges between the error message F.22 andthe actual pressure indicator when theappliance is on.Fill the heating system as follows:• Open all heating element thermostat valves.• Check if both stop valves on the heater are open.• Only in ecoTEC plus combination boilers: Connect thefilling pipe as described in Section 5.4.2.• Only in ecoTEC plus system boilers and in ecoTEC procombination boilers: As described in Section 5.4.3 joina hose between the cold water dispensing valve andthe filling pipe of the heating system.• Open the cold water dispensing valve.• Slowly open the filling valve and let the water flowinto the heating system. Bleed the lowest radiatoruntil the water flows out at the bleed valve withoutbubbles.• Bleed all other radiators until the heating system iscompletely filled with water, all bleed valves havebeen shut and the manometer pointer is in the centreof the dark grey area. Bleed the heating pump byloosening the central screw. Close the filling valve andthe cold water dispensing valve.• Loosen the cap of the pump A.A.V. (automatic airvent) (the appliance is ventilated independently by thepump A.A.V. during continuous operation).• Check all connections and the entire system for leaks.5.5 Initial system flush (“cold”)NoteThe complete heating system must be flushedout at least twice: once cold, and once hot asinstructed below.• Check if all radiator thermostatic valves and bothservice valves on the boiler are open.• Connect a hose to the drain valve located at thelowest position of the heating system.• Open the 1/2” BSP drain taps and all vent valves onthe heating elements and allow the water to flow outof the heating system and the boiler quickly andcompletely to remove all installation residue from theheating system before commissioning the boiler.• Close the 1/2” BSP drain taps.• Fill the heating system again with water as describedin Section 5.4.4.• Check that the pressure relief valve of the heatingsystem is working by turning the handle on the valve.• Check the pressure in the heating system and fillwater if needed.• Close the filling valve and the cold water dispensingvalve.Commissioning Part I 5
