138 Driving and operating● To deactivate only Tractioncontrol system press b briefly:TC is inactive but ESC remainsactive. A status messageappears in the Driver InformationCentre when TC is deactivated.If the vehicle reaches the stabilitythreshold with deactivated ESC, thesystem will automatically reactivateESC for the time duration of thethreshold, when the brake pedal isdepressed once.ESC is reactivated by pressing bagain. If the TC system waspreviously disabled, both TC andESC are reactivated. A statusmessage pops up in the DriverInformation Centre and textinguishes when TC and ESC arereactivated.ESC is also reactivated the next timethe ignition is switched on.FaultIf there is a fault in the system thecontrol indicator b illuminatescontinuously and a message or awarning code appears in the DriverInformation Centre. The system is notoperational.Have the cause of the fault remediedby a workshop.City modeCity mode is a feature which enablesincreased steering assistance duringlower speed conditions, e.g. citytraffic or parking. Steering assistanceis increased for greater convenience.ActivationPress B when engine is running. Thesystem works from standstill up to22 mph, and in reverse gear. Abovethis speed the system changes tonormal mode. When activated, Citymode engages automatically below22 mph.An illuminated LED in the City modebutton indicates that the system isactive.Additionally, a message pops-up inthe Driver Information Centre.City mode remains active during anAutostop, but is only operationalwhen the engine is running.
