Werecommend wiper blade rep la cement atleast once a year.If the windscreen is dirty, operate thewind screen wash system before switchingon the wiper or setting the wiper toautom atic operation with the ra insensor 3. This will avoid wiper blad e wear.Do not switch on the wind screen wiper ifthe windscreen is d ry or obstructed (e. g.with snow or ice), as this could dam age theglass, the wiper blades, or the wipersy stem.If the wiper becomes froz en on to the glass,we recom mend that it be released w ith theaid of Vaux hall De-icer Spray beforestarting the v ehicle, to prev ent w iper motordamage.Smearing wiper blades can be c leaned witha soft c loth and Vauxhall WindscreenWash Solvent.Wiper blades whose lips ha ve becomeha rd ened, cracked or covered with siliconemust b e replaced . This may b e necessa ryas a result of the effects of ice, thawing sa ltor heat, or the incorrect use of cleaningagents.Switch off the wiper in car w ashes –see p ages 88 and 199.Wiper care – see page 201.To ensure p roper operation of the rainsensor 3, the sensor area must be free fromdust, dirt and ic e, which is why thewindscreen wash system m ust be opera tedat reg ular intervals and the sensor area de-iced. Vehicles w ith ra in sensor can beidentified by the sensor area near the topof the wind screen.
