GP 2600 Maintenancewc_tx000559gb.fm 294.6 StorageBefore storing the generator for a long period of time:4.6.1 Close the fuel valve and remove and empty the sediment cup or fuelstrainer.4.6.2 Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor. Place the open end of thefuel line into a suitable container and open the fuel valve to drain thefuel from the tank.Gasoline is extremely flammable. Drain the fuel tank in a well-ventilated area. DO NOT drain the fuel tank in an area with flames orsparks.4.6.3 Loosen the drain screw on the carburetor and drain any remaining fuelfrom the carburetor.4.6.4 Change the engine oil.4.6.5 Remove the spark plug and pour approximately 30 ml (1 ounce) ofclean engine oil into the cylinder. Crank the engine a few turns todistribute the oil to the inside of the cylinder walls.4.6.6 Pull the starter rope slowly until resistance is felt and leave the handlein this position. This ensures that the intake and exhaust valves areclosed.4.6.7 Store the generator in a clean, dry area.4.7 TransportLet the engine cool before transporting the generator or storing itindoors, to avoid burns or fire hazards.When transporting the generator:4.7.1 Turn the engine fuel valve to the OFF position.4.7.2 Position the generator level to prevent fuel from spilling.4.7.3 Secure the generator by tying it down with a suitable rope.When transporting the machine by hand, be sure to employ manpowercommensurate with the weight of the machine.
