48Maintenance Instructions CLEANINGEngine Air Cleaner SystemCummins/Fleetguard OptiAir™ Air CleanerA remote mounted Cummins/Fleetguard OptiAir™air cleaner provides the air filtering function. Thepaper filter element slides over an outlet tube insidethe air cleaner canister with radial sealing action,eliminating the possibility of dust leaks due toimproper filter installation. Intake design, internalbaffling, and a dust ejection valve provide dustseparation and automatic precleaning action. Dailyor frequent servicing of the air cleaner is notrequired. Use the air filter restriction gauge on theair cleaner outlet to indicate when the air filter needsservicing -- a yellow indicator will show when thefilter is overly restricting airflow into the engine.IMPORTANT: Use only Cummins/Fleetguard airfilter elements for replacement (Walker 2090-1 and2090-3). Aftermarket filters may not seal properly orfilter efficiently.IMPORTANT: The Cummins/Fleetguard air cleaneruses a dry paper-type air filter element.
