FORMS DESCRIPTION LANGUAGEDescription commandsDescription commands specify the location, size, andcharacteristics of the following form elements: lines, boxes, logos, graphics, form sections, and text. The following commands are used for entering descriptive formdata:• LINE• BOX• TEXT AT• TEXT IN BOX• LOGO• GRAPHIC.You can enter these commands in any sequence. For adiscussion of the problems you may encounter when enteringthese commands, refer to the “Troubleshooting” chapter.Location coordinates Specify the locations in terms of the y and x axis coordinates, measured from the form origin specified in the GRID command. The form origin is generally set to coincide with the variable dataorigin, and the grid units correspond to the character and linespacing of the variable data. The form origin coordinates arespecified as y=0, x=0.You can specify both x and y coordinates, or just one coordinatealong the y or x axis. If only one coordinate is given, the axis isimplied in the command.Symbols for coordinates The following five symbols are used in the description commandsto symbolize different coordinates:• co Origin coordinate• cs Start coordinate• ce End coordinate• ca Absolute coordinate• ci Incremental coordinate. The coordinate parameter may be followed by the unit ofmeasurement: inches (IN), centimeters (CM), or DOTS. If unitsof measurement are not given in the command, the coordinatesare in grid units.Negative coordinates Negative coordinates may also be used. A negative y coordinateis measured upward from the form origin. A negative xcoordinate is measured to the left of the form origin. Forexample, a vertical line starting at x=-1 would appear to the leftof the form grid, as shown in figure 2-1. When you use negativenumbers, be sure to stay within the boundaries of the systempage.XEROX 4050/4090/4450/4650 LPS FORMS CREATION GUIDE 2-9
