44-2 Administering the DocuColorMaintaining optimal server performanceThe DocuColor does not require maintenance. Beyond the obvious requirements ofservicing and maintaining the copier and replenishing consumables there are a fewthings you can do that will improve the overall performance of your system:• Make sure you are making the best use of your network connectionsPublish only connections that will be used; the DocuColor constantly checks all pub-lished connections, even if they are inactive. Match the NetWare polling interval andthe number of queues or connections to the demand for printing.Review the published connections by printing a Configuration page. Eliminate theconnections that are not being used. It is easy to re-establish them when needed. Ingeneral, network connections provide far superior throughput than a parallel port con-nection.• Reduce the number of printed pages by electing not to print a cover page by defaultunless you need cover pages for recordkeepingPrinting cover pages by default is a Printer Setup option.Controlling the job flow Using utilities or WebTools for managing job priorities, tracking current jobs, canceling jobs, reprinting from thePrinted queueUser GuideRelease NotesJob accounting Viewing, printing, and exporting the Job Log, user notesSetting automatic printing and clearing for the Job LogUser GuideSee 2-38Calibration and color management Calibrating the DocuColor User Guide and thismanual, 2-39Getting StartedMaintaining optimum DocuColorperformanceTipsDeleting jobs, clearing queues4-2, alsoUser GuideTroubleshooting Troubleshooting DocuColor SetupPrinting, printer, and user software troubleshooting4-3, alsoUser GuideFor these operations: And these tasks: See:
