XEROX DOCUPRINT 92C NPS GUIDE TO PERFORMING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 5-15. 5InksDry ink is the black or colored powder that forms the image on theprinted page. This chapter describes the procedure for adding dry inkto the printer. This chapter also describes the procedure to changethe Customer Changeable Unit (CCU) that allows additional colors tobe used.Adding dry inkYou do not need to monitor the amount of dry ink remaining in thebottle at any given time; the system monitors it for you.As the dry ink level gets low, the system performs more frequent printquality adjustments. Eventually, when the dry ink level is too low, thesystem cannot perform print quality adjustments. When the Attention light is a steady yellow and a message displayson the printer control console indicating that the printer is low oneither black or color dry ink, add dry ink at your earliest convenience. If you do not add dry ink, the Attention light turns a modulated yellow, and the printer eventually stops printing. The printer will not resumeprinting until you replace the dry ink bottle. When the messageBLACK DRY INK BOTTLE IS EMPTY or COLOR DRY INK BOTTLEIS EMPTY appears on the printer control console, the graphic displayindicates the location of the dry ink bottle.Note: Do not discard damaged, unused dry ink bottles. Return thebottles to Xerox for exchange (for credit in the USA).Caution: To prevent dry ink spillage, remove the bottle only whendirected to do so by a message on the printer control console.
