Downloading Fonts and MacrosChapter 5: Using the Hard Disk Drive / Downloading Fonts and Jobs v 5-3DownloadingFonts andMacrosXerox DocuPrint N40 printer drivers provide you with theability to download fonts and PCL macros to the printer.Fonts and macros can be downloaded to printer memoryor to the optional hard drive via drivers.• To download fonts you must first install theappropriate DocuPrint N40 Windows 3.1, Windows 95,Macintosh, Windows NT, or UNIX drivers. Todownload macros, you must install the DocuPrint N40Windows PCL driver.• Fonts downloaded to the Hard Disk Drive are stored inthe PCL Fonts and PS Fonts directories. Macrosdownloaded to the hard drive are stored in the PCLMacros directory. Fonts and macros stored in thesedirectories remain there until you delete them. Theyare not cleared from the hard disk when the printer ispowered off. You can only delete a macro from thehard disk if you know the name of the macro. Sinceyou cannot print a list of macros as you can for fonts, itis important to keep a record of all downloadedmacros. Then, use the PJL FSDELETE command todelete fonts and macros.• “Temporary” fonts/macros downloaded to printermemory on a job per job basis are cleared from theprinter's memory after each job.• “Permanent” fonts downloaded to printer memory arecleared from memory whenever the printer is poweredoff. When the printer switches PDLs, its automaticState Saving feature saves all fonts and macros.In addition to downloading through drivers, theDocuPrint N40 will support downloading of fonts andmacros to its disk by the use of the PJL commandFSDOWNLOAD. These files may be deleted from theDocuPrint N40 disk by the PJL command FSDELETE.
