Special FeaturesChapter 1: Getting Started v 1-11Automatic Font/Macro SavingWhen you are printing both PostScript and PCL jobs, theprinter will automatically save downloaded fonts, macros, and the entire PostScript environment when it switchesPDLs (Printer Description Language). This saves you fromhaving to download fonts, macros, and headers everytime the program switches between PostScript and PCL.Secure Printing The DocuPrint N40 allows users to define and controlwhat are called “secure jobs.” When a secure job is sentto the printer, printing is delayed until the passwordassociated with that job is entered at the printer’s ControlPanel. Secure jobs are defined and enabled either viaDocuPrint N40 printer drivers or via a sequence of PJLcommands (see Chapter 5: Using the Hard Disk Drive /Downloading Fonts and Jobs, page 5-8, for an example). This feature requires the Hard Disk Drive option.Proof Printing The DocuPrint N40 allows you to view and proofread thefirst set of a multiple set job before printing the remainingsets. This is called “proof printing”. When you send aproof job to the printer, only the first set is printedimmediately. You can then go to the printer and proof thefirst set. Depending on the outcome of the proofing, youcan then decide either to continue printing the remainingsets or to delete the job by entering the Password Menuvia the Printer Control Panel. Proof printing jobs aredefined and enabled either via the DocuPrint N40 printerdrivers or via a sequence of PJL commands (see“Creating Proof Jobs” page 5-10, for an example). Thisfeature requires the Hard Disk Drive option.
