NetWare Troubleshooting3-6 v DocuPrint Technical Information GuideNetWareTroubleshootingQuick Check1 Verify that the printer is plugged in, turned on, andconnected to an active network.If you use the Xerox CentreDirect External PrintServer (External Ethernet Adapter) to connectyour printer to the network, ensure that it isplugged in and connected to the printer’s parallelport.2 Verify that the printer is receiving network traffic bymonitoring the LEDs on the back of the printer or on theExternal Ethernet Adapter. When the printer is connectedto a functioning network receiving traffic, its link LED willbe green, and its orange traffic LED will be flashingrapidly.3 Verify that the client is logged into the network andprinting to the correct print queue. Also verify that theuser has access to the DocuPrint printer queue.4 Verify that the DocuPrint NetWare print queue exists, isaccepting jobs, and has a Print Server attached. If not, tryusing Setup Wizard in CentreWare DP to reconfigure theprint queue.5 Print out a Configuration Sheet. Verify that Printer Serveris enabled. Try setting the frame type to the frame typeyour NetWare Server is using.To determine your NetWare IPX frame type, typeconfig at the Novell console screen. On networksusing multiple IPX frame types, it is CRITICALthat the frame type be set correctly.6 Verify that the Primary Server is set. (Primary Servershould have been set during initial queue setup andinstalled using CentreWare DP.) If it is not set, useCentreWare DP to set it and reset the printer.Setting the Primary Server is extremely importanton large networks.7 If the above quick checks fail to fix the printing problem,Contact Xerox Customer Service.
