9.5 < Troubleshooting>Solving general printing problemsFor problems with the operation of your printer, refer to the table forsuggested solutions.Condition Possible cause Suggested solutionsThe printerdoes notprint.The printer is notreceiving power.Check the power cordconnections. Check the powerswitch and the power source.The printer is notselected as thedefault printer.Select Xerox Phaser 3124,Xerox Phaser 3125 PCL 6 orXerox Phaser 3125 PS as yourdefault printer.The printer coveris not closed.Close the printer cover.Paper is jammed. Clear the paper jam. See page9.1.No paper isloaded.Load paper. See page 5.4.The tonercartridge is notinstalled.Install the toner cartridge.The printer maybe in manual feedmode and out ofpaper.Add paper to the manual tray,and press the Cancel buttonon the control panel.The connectioncable betweenthe computer andthe printer is notconnectedproperly.Disconnect the printer cableand reconnect it.The connectioncable betweenthe computer andthe printer isdefective.If possible, attach the cable toanother computer that isworking properly and try to printa document. You can also tryusing a different printer cable.The port setting isincorrect.Check the Windows printersetting to make sure that theprint job is sent to the correctport. If the computer has morethan one port, make sure thatthe printer is attached to thecorrect one.The printerdoes notprint.(Continued)The printer maybe configuredincorrectly.Check the printer properties toensure that all of the printsettings are correct.The printer drivermay beincorrectlyinstalled.Reinstall the printer driver; Seethe Software Section. Tryprinting a test page.The printer ismalfunctioning.Check the LEDs on the controlpanel to determine if the printeris indicating a system error.Printerselects printmedia fromthe wrongpapersource.The paper sourceselection in theprinter propertiesmay be incorrect.For many softwareapplications, the paper sourceselection is found under thePaper tab within the printerproperties. Select the correctpaper source. See theSoftware Section.Paper doesnot feed intothe printer.Paper has notbeen loadedcorrectly.Remove paper from the trayand reload it correctly.Check that the adjustableguides are set correctly.There is too muchpaper in the tray.Remove excess paper from thetray.The paper is toothick.Use only paper that meetsprinter specifications.Print job isextremelyslow.The job may bevery complex.Reduce the complexity of thepage(s) or try adjusting theprint quality settings.To adjust the print qualitysettings, reduce the resolution.If you have set the resolution to1200 dpi (Best), change it to600 dpi (Normal). See theSoftware Section.Change the port setting to theUSB or network port to improveprint speed.Your printer prints A4-sizedpaper at 24 ppm and letter-sized paper at 25 ppm.Condition Possible cause Suggested solutions
