2.7 <System setup>Emulation menuUse the Emulation menu to configure printer language emulation.Secure Print• Release All: If this menu is configured to Off,Release item in Secure Print menu launchesonly one file which agrees with the user nameand the passcode for the file.If this menu is configured to On, Releaseitem in Secure Print menu releases every filethat matches the user name and thepasscode.The default is Off.• Delete: You can delete all of the pagesregardless of the user name or the passcode.Low Toner• Stop: When the toner in the cartridgebecomes almost empty, the machine will notresume printing until you install a new Xerox-genuine print cartridge.• Continue: Even though the toner in thecartridge becomes almost empty, themachine will continue the printing job.Cm or inchesYou can set the unit in the machine with yourpreferences either in centimeters or inches.This selection affects the following menus.• Simplex Margin in Layout menu.• Custom Size of Tray 1MPT Size in Papermenu.Clear Setting This menu item allows you to restore theprinter’s factory default settings.Item ExplanationEmulationTypeThe printer language defines how the computercommunicates with the printer.If you select Auto, your printer can change theprinter language automatically.SetupSee the tables on page 2.7 to configure the printerlanguage.Item ExplanationValues: Release All, DeleteValues: Stop, ContinueValues: cm, inchesValues: Auto, PCL, PostScript, EPSON, IBMValues: PCL, PostScript, EPSON, IBMPCLThis menu sets the PCL emulation configuration. You can set the fonttype, symbol type, lines per page, and point size.Hex ModeWhen you set this menu on, the printer will print theunprocessed hex data.Item ExplanationTypefaceYou can select the standard font to be used in PCLemulation.• PCL 1~PCL 7’s interval between letters is fixed, andPCL 8~PCL 45’s interval is proportional to the fonttype and point size. You can adjust the font size ofPCL 1~PCL 7 using the Pitch item, andPCL 8~PCL 45 can do using Point Size item.• PCL 46~PCL 54’s interval and point size are fixed.SymbolThis item selects the symbol to be used in PCLemulation. The symbol is the group of numbers,marks, and special signs being used when printingletters. The default is PC8.Point SizeWhen you select one between PCL 8 and PCL 45 fromthe Typeface menu, you can determine the font sizeby setting the height of the characters in the font. Thedefault is 12.00.CourierThis item lets you select the version of Courier font touse.PitchWhen you select a font between PCL 1 and PCL 7from the Typeface menu, you can determine the fontsize by setting the number of characters that will printin one horizontal inch of type.
