This 1989 Regulationplaces a duty on all employers and self-employed persons toensure the electrical system in their premises is constructed,maintained and operated in such a manner as to prevent, sofar as reasonably practical, danger. This includes ensuring allelectrical equipment connected to such electrical systemssafely constructed, maintained and operated.All Xerox equipment has been designed to exacting safetystandards and has undergone a variety of stringent safety testsincluding earth bond, insulation resistance and electricalstrength tests. Xerox Limited manufacturing plants have beenawarded ISO 9000 quality certification and are subject toregular audits by the British Standards Institution or equivalentnational standards body.Xerox equipment which has been properly and regularlyserviced and maintained should not have to undergo additionalspecific safety tests pursuant to the 1989 Regulation.Customers wishing to complete safety testing should contactXerox Limited Technical Centre (see page B-9) for advice priorto any test implementation.XEROX equipment should, however, be properly and regularlyserviced and maintained at all times.
