FTA-750/FTA-550 O perATing MAnuAl15External DC Power Supply ConnectionYou may insert the cable plug of the optional SDD-12Cigarette Lighter DC/DC Converter into the EXT DCjack located on the right side of the transceiver. In thiscase, the “ ” icon will appear in the top right cornerof the LCD display.When making DC connections via the SDD-12, be ab-solutely certain to observe the proper voltage level andpolarity guidelines. The SDD-12 can be connected to 12 to 24 Volt DCpower sources.SDD-12Cigarette Lighter DC/DCConverter (12 to 24 Volts)Ferrite CoreWind the cable one turn,then snap two halvesAs closeas possible For noise reduction from exogenous noise, wind oneturn of the SDD-12 cable around the ferrite core,and snap its two halves together, per the illustrationabove. Attach the ferrite core as close as possible tothe SDD-12 body, as shown.Do not connect any accessory unapprovedby YAESU to supply DC power; otherwisethe FTA-750/FTA-550 may be damaged.Antenna Installation To attach the supplied antenna to the FTA-750/FTA-550, grasp the base of the antenna firmly, andexert a moderate “pinching” pressure on the baseas you press the antenna onto the radio’s antennaconnector.
