3-22EEMH10110TILTING UP/DOWNIf the engine will be stopped for sometime, or if the boat is moored in shallows,the engine should be tilted up to protectthe propeller and casing from damage bycollision with obstructions, and also toreduce salt corrosion.cC8 Before tilting the motor, follow the pro-cedures under “STOPPING ENGINE”.Never tilt the motor while the engine isrunning. Severe damage from over-heating can result.8 Do not tilt up the engine by pushingthe steering handle as this could breakthe handle.8 Keep the power unit higher than thepropeller at all times. Otherwise, watercan run into the cylinder, causing dam-age.wBe sure all people are clear of the out-board motor when adjusting the tiltangle, also be careful not to pinch anybody parts between the drive unit andengine bracket.wLeaking fuel is a fire hazard. Disconnectthe fuel line if the engine will be tilted formore than a few minutes. Otherwise, fuelmay leak. (If the fuel connector is provid-ed on the motor.)105031
