Severe injury couldoccur if the outboard accidentally falls.8 Make sure no one is under the out-board before performing this test.1) Check the power trim and tilt unit forany sign of oil leaks.2) Operate each of the power trim and tiltswitches on remote control and enginebottom cowling (if equipped) to checkthat all switches work.3) Tilt up the motor and check that the tiltrod 1 and trim rods 2 are pushed outcompletely.4) Use the tilt support lever 3 to lock themotor in the UP position. Operate thetilt down switch briefly so the motor issupported the tilt support lever.5) Check that the tilt rod and trim rods arefree of corrosion or other flaws.6) Activate the tilt-down switch until thetrim rods have gone completely into thecylinders.7) Activate the trim-up switch until the tiltrod is fully extended. Unlock the tiltsupport lever.8) Operate the motor to tilt down. Checkthat the tilt rod and trim rods operatesmoothly.NOTE:If any operation is abnormal, consult aYamaha dealer.
