Operation32NOTE: On remote controls equipped with a neutralthrottle lever, a good starting point is to liftthe lever just until you feel resistance, thenlift slightly more. The neutral throttle lever or free acceleratorcan only be used when the remote controllever is in neutral.5. Press in and hold the main switch to op-erate the remote choke system. The re-mote choke switch automatically returnsto its normal position when you releaseyour hand. Therefore keep the switchpressed in.NOTE: It is not necessary to use the choke whenstarting a warm engine. Push in the main switch fully, or the remotechoke system will not operate.6. Turn the main switch to “ ” (start),and hold it for a maximum of 5 seconds.7. Immediately after the engine starts, re-lease the main switch and allow it to re-turn to “ ” (on).CAUTION:ECM00191 Never turn the main switch to “ ”(start) while the engine is running. Do not keep the starter motor turning formore than 5 seconds. If the starter motoris turned continuously for more than 5seconds, the battery will be quickly dis-charged, thus making it impossible tostart the engine. The starter can also bedamaged. If the engine will not start after5 seconds of cranking, return the mainswitch to “ ” (on), wait 10 seconds,then crank the engine again.EMU27670Warming up engineEMU27731Manual start models1. After starting the engine, return the chokeknob to the halfway position. For approx-imately the first 5 minutes after starting,warm up the engine by operating at onefifth throttle or less. After the engine haswarmed up, push the choke knob in fully.Failure to do so will shorten engine life.NOTE: If the choke knob is left pulled out after theengine starts, the engine will stall. |
