If the NS-1000/NS-1000M speaker is used with an ampli»fier whose power capacity is greater than that of thespeaker's (max. input: 100W, Continuous: 50W), becareful not to exceed the speaker's capacity. When theamplifier volume is set at the middie position, theoutput will register 70% of the maximum input. Afterlong periods of use at continuous input, the attenuatorknob may become warmer. This will in no way affectspeaker performance,The “NORMAL” position of the attenuator level hasbeen chosen as the result of various factors, includingtests in anechoic chambers, power-handling character-istics and hearing tests in listening rooms. However,you may adjust the position according to your ownpreferences and to the particular acoustic conditionsof your room.Do not touch the beryllium diaphragms on the mid-range or tweeter, nor cause them to be affected by anysharp movement.IMPORTANT !Please record the serial number ofyour unit in the space belowSerial No.The serial number is located on therear of the cabinetRetain this Owner's Manual in asate place for future reference.Connecting the AmplifierConnect the input terminal on the rear of the speakerto the output terminal on the amplifier with the speakercord which is included. Make sure the amplifier isturned off.ConnectionThe input terminal on the speaker is a push-typeterminal (refer to the diagram),The red terminal isplus, the black terminal isminus.Connect the left speaker to the left {L) amplifierterminal, and the right speaker to the right (R) terminal.The connector cords must be connected the same wayfor both left and right speakers. One side of the speakercord is silver-colored. Use this side as the plus and theother side as the minus. If you mistake the polarity,an out-of-phase signal will be produced, seriouslyaffecting stereo performance and bass response.ImpedanceThe impedance of the NS-1000/NS-1000M is 89. Ifatransistor amplifier is used, the speakers can be connected without giving any consideration to impedance.If a tube-type amplifier is used, however, the speakersshould be connected only to 822 output terminals,
