343. OPERATIONEN3.4 Long Term Storage(1) In cold temperatures or before longterm storage, be sure to drain theseawater from the seawater coolingsystem.Drain seawater from the seawatercooling system after the engine hascooled down. Be careful to avoidburns. If seawater is left inside, it mayfreeze and damage parts of thecooling system (fresh water cooler, seawater pump, etc.) when ambienttemperature is below 0°C[32°F].1. Loosen the drain cocks/plugs at-tached on the pipe and on the heat ex-changer, and drain off the seawaterinside. If no liquid comes from the draincocks/plugs, it may be necessary touse a stiff wire to remove any debris toallow drainage.2. Loosen the 4 bolts attaching the sidecover of the seawater pump, removethe cover and drain the water from in-side.Retighten the bolts when finished.3. Close the drain cocks/plugs.(2) Do not drain fresh water/coolant inthe cold season or before the longstorage. If LLC (Long Life Coolant) has notbeen added to the cooling fresh water,be sure to add LLC or drain off thefresh water from the fresh water cool-ing system daily after useIf the fresh water without LLC is notremoved, it may freeze and damageparts of the cooling water system(fresh water cooler, cylinder block, cylinder head, etc.) when ambienttemperature is below 0°C[32°F].1. Open the fresh water drain cocks/plugs (2 positions as illustrated) anddrain the fresh water from inside.2. Close the drain cocks/plugs afterdraining the fresh water.Emergency StopWhen you can’t stop the engine by the stopbutton on the panel, push the button at theback of the stop solenoid.(See 2.5.3)A Alternator C Drain plug for coolantB Coolant tank D Drain cock for seawaterCAUTIONNOTICEBACDNOTICE
