10Figure 4: Typical Split System Application Closed Loop - Earth CoupledClosed Loop - Ground Source SystemsNOTE: For closed loop systems with antifreeze protection, setSW2-1 to the “LOOP” (15°F) position. (Refer to the DIP Switch Set-tings table in the Aurora Control section.)Once piping is completed between the unit, pumps and the groundloop (see figure below), final purging and charging of the loop isrequired. A flush cart (or a 1.5 HP pump minimum) is needed toachieve adequate flow velocity in the loop to purge air and dirt par-ticles from the loop itself. Antifreeze solution is used in most areasto prevent freezing. Flush the system adequately to remove asmuch air as possible then pressurize the loop to a static pressure of40-50 psi (summer) or 50-75 psi (winter). This is normally adequatefor good system operation. Loop static pressure will fluctuate withthe seasons. Pressures will be higher in the winter months thanduring the cooling season. This fluctuation is normal and should beconsidered when initially charging the system. After pressurization, be sure to turn the venting (burping) screw inthe center of the pump two (2) turns open (water will drip out), waituntil all air is purged from the pump, then tighten the plug. Ensurethat the loop pumps provide adequate flow through the unit(s) bychecking the pressure drop across the heat exchanger and compar-ing it to the unit capacity data in this catalog. 2.5 to 3 gpm of flow perton of cooling capacity is recommended in earth loop applications.NOTE: Additional information can be found in Flow Centerinstallation manual and Flush Cart manual.Figure 5: Primary/Secondary WiringCCT2 T1CompressorCRSBlueL1L2BlackRedTan(6)CapExt Pump1/2 hp Total208-230/60/1PumpG12PB112PumpCircuitBreakerCircuitBreaker15A5AOptional InternalHWG PumpHWGPumpPurpleHot WaterLimit Switch130°FBlue1 23CabinetHW SwitchField SuppliedRelay for HeatPump 1Field SuppliedRelay for HeatPump 2Heat Pump 1Contactor CoilHeat Pump 2Contactor CoilField SuppliedFuses 5AMultiple Units on One Flow CenterWhen two units are connected to one loop pumping system, pumpcontrol is achieved by following Figure 5.
