826081-XIM-C-0214Johnson Controls Unitary Products 35area the rollout switch will open, the ICB will close both themain and pilot gas valves and flash a code (Table 25). The ICBwill not retry the ignition sequence during the same call for heat.Flame Sense CircuitThe flame sensor is mounted on the left hand side of the burnerassembly and is positioned such that the pilot flame surroundsthe tip of the sensor. On a call for heat the ICB checks for theflame sense circuit to be open. If open, then the ICB initiates thepurging and ignition sequence. Once the pilot flame is present, the ICB monitors the flame sense circuit for pilot flame stability. If the pilot flame is unstable or lost completely, then the ICB willimmediately close both the pilot and main gas valves. The ICBwill retry the purging and ignition sequence. If the flame isunstable or lost more than 16 times during the same call forheat, then the ICB will lock out furnace operation for 5 minutes.ResetsRemove the call for heating by lowering the thermostat settinglower than the conditioned space temperature. This resets anyflash codes.Heat Anticipator SetpointsGas Valve Anticipator SetpointHoneywell VR8204M 0.60 ampWhite-Rodgers 36E36 0.54 ampIt is important that the anticipator setpoint be correct. Too highof a setting will result in longer heat cycles and a greatertemperature swing in the conditioned space. Reducing thevalue below the correct setpoint will give shorter “ON” cyclesand may result in the lowering of the temperature within theconditioned space.Start-Up (Cooling)Prestart Check ListAfter installation has been completed:1. Check the electrical supply voltage being supplied. Be surethat it is the same as listed on the unit nameplate.2. Set the room thermostat to the off position.3. Turn unit electrical power on.4. Set the room thermostat fan switch to on.5. Check indoor blower rotation.• If blower rotation is in the wrong direction. Refer toPhasing Section in general information section.• Check blower drive belt tension.6. Check the unit supply air flow rate. See “CHECKINGSUPPLY AIR FLOW RATE” on page page 30.7. Measure evaporator fan motor's amp draw.8. Set the room thermostat fan switch to off.9. Turn unit electrical power off.Operating Instructions1. Turn unit electrical power on.2. Set the room thermostat setting to lower than the roomtemperature.3. Compressor will energize after the built-in time delay (fiveminutes).Post Start Check list1. Verify proper system pressures.2. Measure the temperature drop across the evaporator coil.3. Measure the system Amperage draw across all legs of 3phase power wires.4. Measure the condenser fan amp draw.Shut Down1. Set the thermostat to highest temperature setting.2. Turn off the electrical power to the unit.Start-Up (Gas Heat)Pre-Start Check ListComplete the following checks before starting the unit.1. Check the type of gas being supplied. Be sure that itis the same as listed on the unit nameplate.2. Make sure that the vent and combustion air hoodshave been properly installed.Operating InstructionsTO LIGHT PILOT AND MAIN BURNERS:1. Turn “off” electric power to unit.Table 21: Limit Control SettingUnit(Tons)Capacity, MBH Limit Control Opens, °FInput Output Direct Drive Belt Drive3 15 (50) 12 (40) 115 (240) -4 22 (75) 18 (60) 99 (210) -5, 6.3 29 (100) 29 (80) - 99 (210)Table 22: Gas Heat Anticipator SetpointsThis furnace is equipped with an intermittent pilot andautomatic re-ignition system.
